Meet my friend Khalil. I met him about 6 years ago through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. I was matched with his spunky, fun and beautiful sister Ariell and was lucky enough to have both of them in my life. Khalil is graduating from Skyline High School this year and I was thrilled that he asked me to take his senior photos. I know the future is very bright for this guy. Even now as a teen he’s immersed himself into adulthood much sooner than others. He works quite often in downtown Dallas with former Mayor Dwaine R. Caraway as he is a City Council intern. He’s extremely involved in an amazing organization called HOBY -who’s mission is to inspire and develop the community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. Khalil is a major leader in this organization and fully sees that one person can make a difference and he’s the one leading the charge in most cases. On top of all of that Khalil is an outstanding member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, he’s received many accolades along the way through this organization. Often when I describe Khalil to others – I find myself saying that he reminds me of an early MLK. He sees change needed in the world and wants to be the one to make a difference right now. Khalil – I know you will touch many lives along the way – I’m proud to know you and I’m even more excited to see where life takes you!

First Communion and some sisterly love…

I recently had the pleasure of meeting these two beautiful girls Ava & Alexandra. Ava is 8 and getting ready for her first communion so of course we had to grab some angelic shots of her. Then the camera was turned on her teen sister, Alexandra who is 16. With the ease of both of these girls and the beautiful evening we had it was a quick and successful session – better yet all in the comfort of their own home! So all of those who are stressing about location for your session – please don’t forget about what’s right out your front and back door. All I really need is willing models and some good light to play with. This session was a perfect example! Thanks Ava and Alexandra for being so willing and wonderful!

Best of Friends and Graduates from Plano West Senior High School

So fun photographing these two High School Senior girls recently! And for my first official session back to work – it was a blast!! Meet Makenzie & Charlotte – best of friends. In the first image, Makenzie is the one in white and Charlotte in black. They were dressed to perfection, waded through creek beds in high wedges and were a treat to work with the entire time! Thanks girls for being so much fun!! I actually first met Makenzie when she was probably 4 or 5 – so photographing her at this point in her life was just so great! She’s grown into such a beautiful kind young girl and I know she has so much to look forward to in the future. Trinity Christian Academy High School Senior Beauty

High School Senior girls have got to be some of my clients to photograph! And this fall I’ve been hit with a ton of great girls – all so unbelievably nice and gorgeous ta boot! Seriously – something must be in the water now a days – no one looked like these girls when I was in HS.

First up is Sarah from Trinity Christian Academy! She was a blast and I loved the clothing she and I and her mom pulled together. She is sweet, smart and just a great all around girl. I’m certain her college years and beyond will be even more than she could ever ask for. Sarah (& MOM) thank you so much for making this such a fun enjoyable session!

colorful, happy & thoughtful teen sibling session

Possibly one of my most favorite sibling/family sessions to date. Not only because their images turned out so great – but mainly because of how this shoot evolved. Earlier this spring I was contacted by Madeleine (the older sister). She wanted to talk with me about booking a photo session to SURPRISE HER PARENTS for their upcoming anniversary! First I was floored… I mean – really how thoughtful is that!?! She said their last set of family photos was when her little sister was just a baby. So as you can see – these were well overdue and I was more than happy to help. The trick is getting all 4 kids out of the house at a photo shoot with out Mom & Dad expecting a thing. Not sure how they did it but they pulled it off. We shot fast at the beginning b/c the boys had to get to a sports game and so when they left of course – myself and the girls had a bit of extra shooting time…I don’t think they minded When their parents anniversary rolled around – I prepped them with a large print nicely packaged and the link to their online slideshow. The rest is well… Happy Tears! Love Love Loved – the thought behind the shoot, the sweet genuine energy of these kids, the boundless love for their siblings and more importantly parents. This teen age stage has got to be one of my favorites to photograph! Meet Eliza! We did her session earlier this year as she graduated from 8th grade and prepped for heading to HIGH SCHOOL! Wow – do I remember that transition – so fun, so scary and so pivotal. She was a total natural in front of the camera – so unbelievably sweet and of course so photogenic! Eliza – I hope HS is treating you well – I’m sure you will love every moment of this new time in your life!

Well as you all can see I’m quite a bit behind in blogging…but I just had to show some of the gorgeous Katie. We did her session back in May and I’m so glad we were able to do it before this Summer heat set in. Katie is headed to the University of Arkansas in the fall and I know she’s thrilled! She’s a social butterfly, a great student and a fierce competitive cheerleader. She’s a beach girl at heart and OH how I wish I could have found a sandy shore to have her session on – but being in Dallas – well we are limited. The minute I met her I could tell what great character and energy she had. I know her parents must be so proud of her and thrilled to see the road she travels down in the future. Katie you were a rockstar on this session and I LOVED all of the wardrobe choices you brought to it! Thanks so much an have a blast at Arkansas!!

Senior Marketing Piece – Featured on ‘Design A Glow’

Super exciting when one of my favorite vendors asks if they can use some of my images for a product of theirs! Design A Glow did exactly that and of course I jumped at the chance! They recognized my senior focus and wanted to highlight this great session of Meagan‘s on a new product targeted towards seniors. When I saw it come to life I realized quickly how great an idea this is. I basically can turn your yearbook ad that I design for you – into gorgeous wall art for you to remember them by when they head off to college (tear – tear – sniff – sniff). Hello blog – how I’ve missed you!?! So much going on right now and lots to share SOON! But until then I was working on this fun session this morning and had to take a minute to stop and enjoy the sweet serenity of the image. We found this tree in the middle of no where and it started off our session great! More to come from this great session with Eliza soon! Congrats on 8th grade graduation – I know high school will be so much fun for you!

Meet Lily! Another one of my amazingly gorgeous senior subjects this year! I kid you not I had a friend of mine call me after they saw this sneak peek of Lily and they said “Jenny – how is it possible that you get all of the most gorgeous senior girls? What’s in the water down there in Dallas??” Not quite sure what’s in the water but I know for sure these are some of the most gorgeous girls inside and out. I’m super lucky to have worked with all of them!

Lily came to me from Highland Park High School and I loved how she researched and booked the entire session on her own. She knew what she wanted, was super easy to work with and of course worked great with the camera! We met up at a park I’d never shot at before right by her dad’s house. It was PERFECT ! She brought along her cute little Corgi for a few and I gotta say – he was HAPPY to be in photos! She had some of the most classic and beautiful outfits picked out and I MUST find that white dress for myself! Loved it.

Lily – you were so great to work with and I wish you all the best in the future! I have no doubt you’ll do great at whatever road you choose in life!

Remember Catie from this peek a few days back… well here is a bit more. Catie is a soon to be freshman at University of Alabama!! For her senior session we did a little styled fun with Ashley Williams and I must say – Ashley and Catie worked up some perfect outfits! For this session we stuck around the areas of White Rock Lake. I love how green it’s getting over there right now – but even more than that I love that it’s literally been in Catie’s backyard her whole life.

With Catie being an only child I could really relate to her and this time in her life. The leap to leave the nest can be scary but so worthwhile in the end and I think Catie see’s that. She’s soft spoken but certainly has something to say, she’s polite, curious, courageous, ambitious and looking forward to a fresh start in Alabama. I predict one day she will be a very in-demand Physical Therapist for some major NFL team. She certainly has the drive to do so. Whatever you do Catie – I’m certain the future is SO BRIGHT for you! I had a blast with you and your mom and thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you!

Had a wonderful session with this gorgeous HS Senior. I have so many to blog from her session but had to share this quick one of her. I love the symbolic nature of the childhood swing as she heads off into ‘adulthood’. Catie you are amazing and ALABAMA is lucky to have you! I can’t wait to share your images with you!

urban, stylish & unique high school senior photography session

Words can’t even describe how much fun I had on this Senior Session! Heather contacted me early in the year to set up her session and the minute she filled out her profile I knew for sure we would have fun! She’s funny, quirky, different (in such a good way), a little bit of 70′s bo-ho chic mixed with a little bit of current, fresh & artsy girly. Her sister/best friend – came along for the shoot and helped make everything even easier. Here’s a quick peek of that from last week. Heather is a great photographer herselfand she has kept herself busy with a ton of senior sessions – but this time it was all about her!! I know how hard it can be for a photographer to be in front of the camera – but Heather – you rocked it!!! Here is a bit more about her and then of course a peek into her session…

Later this year she will head off to SAIC ” School of the Art Institute of Chicago“
She’s like a walking add for Free People and can whip together some fab outfits with unique pieces!
She should have played a roll in the move 500 days of Summer b/c that movie so fits her personality … oh and I totally see her with Joseph Gorden Levitt one day!
She just came back from a volunteer trip to Brazil and she’s wrapping up a whirl wind senior year!!

GET READY for some blog OVERLOAD for this gorgeous ‘soon to be’ TEEN – AVERY!. She turns 13 on 3.18.12 – and I know how important that TEEN title is – so I have to give it to her a bit early. When Avery’s mom contacted me about a shoot I was thrilled! This age is one of my all time favorites to work with and Avery – you were a true beauty – inside and out! The ultimate goal of the session was to capture Avery as she turns 13 and also to bottle up that sweet spirit of hers. I think we did that and SO MUCH MORE. Avery has the kindest heart and is so amazingly respectful of others. She’s funny, witty, eager and I think we may have unleashed the inner model in her!

For this session I was thrilled to work with my new Stylist – Ashley Williams. You can find out a bit more about Ashley and the styling element of JWP here - she is simply amazing. She is part owner of Hemline a great little boutique in Dallas and she is a personal wardrobe stylist & a CLOSET EDITOR (with her company ClosetLift). Basically headed out to Avery’s home in Rockwall and Ashley pieced together all of these looks straight from Avery’s existing wardrobe. That was almost just as fun as the shoot itself. Avery had a blast with this as it showed her some new ways to wear some of her current pieces.

I’m a huge advocate of maximizing your session with a bit of styling. Not over the top styling that doesn’t doesn’t reflect who you are – but just simple enhancements and unique twists on your own wardrobe to make you feel like the best version of yourself. Meet Peyton – Senior Class of 2012! We meet up in Downtown Dallas near the Arts District and we had so much fun running from spot to spot. She’s friends with another recent senior you might recognize … Meagan. I gotta tell you – I seriously love these HS Senior Sessions!

Peyton and her mom brought some of the best clothes it was ultimately so hard to choose! But I’m thrilled with the choices she made! Peyton – you were so much fun to work with and I love that you knew exactly what you wanted. I can only imagine what bright things the future holds for you!!! Thanks for making my job so easy and fun – had to share a few of my favs…

fall senior session for gorgeous north texas teen girl – Trinity Christian Academy Class of 2012

I’ve been so fortunate to have some amazing senior sessions this fall and this one was nothing short of perfection! You might even remember gorgeous Meagan from yesterday’s photo of the week. There are so many favorites I have about this session…

Meagan contacted me HERSELF in August! I was already thrilled with her enthusiasm.
Couldn’t have asked for Meagan’s MOM to be a better assistant for the day. She was beyond helpful and it was great to see their close relationship!
The LIGHT - If I could shoot every single day 1.5 hrs before sunset I totally would – something so unique about the light at that time.
The LOCATION – although I shoot around White Rock Lake quite often – I forced myself into new pockets that I haven’t tried yet and I loved that Meagan and her mom were game for anything! I fell in love with that place all over again.
The WARDROBE – Meagan totally had an eye for fashion, details and pulling it all together.

Seriously – I could keep going. But the best – was meeting Meagan – such a genuine, kind and good-hearted girl. I adored all of her energy throughout the session! MEAGAN – you were a total rockstar (beautiful inside & out) and I had a blast with you and your mom! I look forward to sharing your entire gallery with you soon – but for now I hope you enjoy just a few!

What a subtle change the sunset has – the last shot and the duo above that were shot literally about 10 min apart.
