I have a feeling I might need to get one of these images autographed…This girl is going places fast! Meet Evyn – future supermodel! This summer her mom contacted me to get a few photographs done for her so that she could enter a modeling contest with Dallas Child Magazine. I was thrilled… mainly because that meant a fun session, for a young aspiring model that would love the camera! For right now she’s a 10 year old girl who is so outgoing, super stylish, active in tons of sports (including cheerleading, soccer, tennis and softball), she’s a great babysitter and in her down time she is obsessing over fashion, all things girly and writing her own songs. Yep – she’s going to be one of those girls who ‘does it all’ – and I have no doubt she can. Oh and a huge shout out to Evyn’s mom… she’s a natural at styling and piecing together great looks for Evyn – I was more than thrilled to have her so involved on this shoot. EVYN – best of luck in all you do! I have no doubt you will go far!

I simply adore sessions with kids this age (actually 7-18) so much personality and fun to be had. If you have a child in this age range – contact me so we can set up a fun session!

Oh my gosh – how much fun did we have on this senior session!?! Introducing the gorgeous Kiele (pronounced Kyle) – you’ve probably already seen a quick peek of her from this morning’s ‘wordless wednesday’ post – if not go check it out (LOVED THAT SHOT!) As you can imagine – I couldn’t wait to post a few more. Kiele was pure perfection and so so sweet. She was totally game for anything, had the cutest outfits and was SO easy in front of the camera. OH and I must give a shout out to her mom too! She was a huge help and I wish I could have her with me on every senior shoot. She has an amazing eye for details and that’s clear by her impeccable design company (Go ahead – click and drool!) Thanks Kiele & Niki for being so fun to work with – I know your senior year will be a blast and I can only imagine all of the bright things ahead for you in college and beyond!

Stylish 2011 Plano High School Senior Photography Session

Remember this one? Well, there were so many things I loved about this senior session not sure where to start. There are quite a few images so I’ll try to keep my words short.

I LOVED that Arial came to the table with this amazing location! Loved that her mom found me via ‘google’. Loved that she came ready and willing for anything and she came with fabulous clothes on top of that! I love that she embraces her uniqueness. Sometimes in today’s world it can be so easy to conform and it was so refreshing to see Arial so comfortable and steadfast in her individuality. I wish I had some of that when I was in high school. Her plans in College are to focus on Early Childhood Education and I can see that will be a perfect fit. She loves working with the kids she coaches gymnastics to and I’m sure they love her too. She’s a former competitive figure skater (SOOO envious of that). Above all – she just had such a great spirit about her. (oh – loved the freckles too!)

So as you may have noticed before BABIEKINS MAG via Little Miss Heirloom’s blog – has recently become my new favorite obsession, they’ve even featured my work …LUV IT!. In love with the fun, European flair of their trendy kids fashion. I love it for a few reasons – 1) mainly b/c I wish I could turn back the clock and have these clothes available to me when I was a kid; 2) these are perfect inspiration for unique looks for your upcoming photo session; 3) reminds me daily of how I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get into kids editorial fashion photography!! One can dream right??

Today I’m working on a few ‘what to wear’ ideas for your photo session (for seniors, families, kiddos etc). while i was putting a few things together a post from one of my new favorite blogs popped up…and they were highlighting a kids clothing online shop. It’s called – KIDS FASHION LAND. I jumped over and fell in LUV. Was really trying to sort thru things in Spanish but quickly realized I needed to click the ENGLISH translator. Love these clothes for so many reasons…mainly b/c they are fresh, unique, real and interesting. A bit on the vintage funk side and how perfect for your little ones! Meet AnneKirby…she’s funny, outgoing, stylish, super nice and gorgeous ta-boot. Seriously something must be in the water in North Dallas because she’s just as fabulous as her friend Emily that I photographed last fall. She just needed ‘a few pics’ for the start of her college whirl-wind but luckily she let me get much more. So many to chose from and goodness was it hard to narrow down for the blog.

AnneKirby it was so great to meet you, your mom and of course your partner in crime – Shelby. Stay tuned – I might squeeze in a ‘bloopers’ post of Shelby on your shoot. Have an amazing time in college – I know you will soak in the entire experience and have a blast!

Spread your wings… -{dallas child photographer}

This entire journey of my photography business has really enabled me to stretch my business muscles and of course my creative wings as well. Yet creativity has always been something I’ve WANTED to be strong with. I’ve always had a touch of creativity in me (and I mean a touch – a very small portion) but I’ve never had as much as I’d like to. I look at friends of mine like MOLLY, PETER, AMANDA, and I think – WOW – how’d you do that? How did you visualize something so unique, so beautiful, so funny etc – and actually bring it to life! I could go on and on listing all the amazing peeps I surround myself with…these are just a few.

Well I’ve recently started stalking a few photographers that I simply stare in awe of their creative vision. How they can visualize a specific shoot and actually create what is in their head. The entire process is shocking to me! On this shoot – I was lucky enough to work along side of the ever so creative Shannon Sewell. I’ve stalked her blog for a while now and finally begged for a workshop day when she came to dallas. It worked out and I couldn’t have been happier. Shannon – thank you for a glimpse into your world – I learned alot and I hope to continue to add a bit of creative flare to my shoots in the future!

Now – on to these amazing girls. They were my models for the day and I must say that I couldn’t have asked for 2 better girls! I’ve known one since birth and the other I’ve had the opportunity to get to know over the past few years. Their mom’s are sisters and are dear friends of mine. So when this workshop opportunity came up – I quickly had to snag the soon to be famous – Gracie & Alexis duo! They are gorgeous – inside and out, amazingly kind to one another and fearless on this shoot! Thank you girls for letting us ‘play’ all afternoon. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope your arms have recovered from those wings!

Now – on to the images… OH and to see Shannon’s amazing eye at work – here is her post on it (along with a zillion other stunning sessions!). And I can’t forget to give a shout out to the awesome stylist – Vanessa! Thank you for all your help and your eye of course!

Your Session is set – now “What to Wear”????

Nope you aren’t the first one who has stressed over “What to Wear” for your upcoming photo session. It’s honestly THE #1 question I get asked prior to a shoot. Oh how I wish I were a part time stylist – but I must admit that’s not where my talents are. So in lieu of not being able to go through each of your closets personally – I thought I’d provide a few great ideas for you. From colorful casual (that you can still pull off in this summer heat), to cool gray tones, to earthy fall colors and finally to a 50′s inspired look…there is a look for everyone! Enjoy and HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

OH – and for those of you who would enjoy someone else making these decisions – I can help with that too!! I have an amazing stylist I work with that’s more than happy to personally style your session. If you are interested contact me – you will LOVE her and the stress she pulls off your shoulders!

Inspiration

So we all need a bit of inspiration now and then. I find my inspiration in music mostly, but love stumbling upon something like this that encompasses photography, fashion and music. One of my all time favorite stores for kids clothing is ZARA. If you are a Dallas-ite, it’s up at the Galleria. This is a quick video for their new 2010/2011 Fall/Winter looks. Love the music, the way it was shot and of course the clothing. Take a look, maybe it will give you some inspiration as well. Maybe even some ideas for some outfits for your kiddos for our upcoming shoots for HOLIDAY CARDS. YEP – it’s that time of year…Holiday Cards are in full swing already!!
