in home natural light maternity session – dallas family photographer

I must start this post by admitting something.  I get freakishly nervous about shooting INDOORS.  I love using 100% natural / available light for my sessions and so every time I have a shoot scheduled at a clients home – my nerves start rumbling.  Most of the times the day of the shoot is the first time I’ve seen the available shooting spaces and therefore I’m not all that familiar with the light to expect in the home.  This was one of those times.  HOWEVER, the minute I opened up the bedroom door I was THRILLED!  The softest most perfect window light was pouring in on this perfect white bed.  I might have squealed with excitement!:)  On top of that excitement I had the most eager, prepared, gorgeous and kind mom-to-be to work with.  She knew exactly what she wanted for her maternity session and I hope I exceeded all of her visions.  After shooting in her home we then headed over to a nearby clearing that was so lush from all the recent rain.  She walked her way through some pretty high grass spots just to ‘get the shot’ and for that – I’m ever so grateful!:)  Elise – please enjoy and I look forward to sharing some more with you!!

mom and daughter spring sunset session in dallas, tx

Family sessions like this make my job so easy and fun!  These are two of my dear friends Kim (mom) and Taylor (daughter).  This pair came together in the most beautiful way and their relationship has continued to grow stronger each and every day.  They aren’t just a fab  mom/daughter pair but they really are best friends.  They make each other laugh, cry, smile and scream (typical of most mom/daughter duos right?).  Without further delay I must show off the love between these two and of course that sweet little TAYLOR – isn’t she just the best!?

I loved how this session incorporated BOTH OF THEM.  Far too often parents are too anxious to be in front of the camera – but I assure you I try to make it easy and painless.  So next time – be sure to jump in a few with your kiddos!!

This session makes me smile! Love to see a happy mom and daughter :)

urban, stylish & unique high school senior photography session

Words can’t even describe how much fun I had on this Senior Session!  Heather contacted me early in the year to set up her session and the minute she filled out her profile I knew for sure we would have fun!  She’s funny, quirky, different (in such a good way), a little bit of 70′s bo-ho chic mixed with a little bit of current, fresh & artsy girly.  Her sister/best friend – came along for the shoot and helped make everything even easier. Here’s a quick peek of that from last week.  Heather is a great photographer herselfand she has kept herself busy with a ton of senior sessions – but this time it was all about her!!  I know how hard it can be for a photographer to be in front of the camera – but Heather – you rocked it!!!  Here is a bit more about her and then of course a peek into her session…

  • Later this year she will head off to SAIC ” School of the Art Institute of Chicago
  • She’s like a walking add for Free People and can whip together some fab outfits with unique pieces!
  • She should have played a roll in the move 500 days of Summer b/c that movie so fits her personality … oh and I totally see her with Joseph Gorden Levitt one day!
  • She just came back from a volunteer trip to Brazil and she’s wrapping up a whirl wind senior year!!

Best of luck in all you do Heather!  I know you will put your own unique stamp on the the world!!

Contact me ASAP if you haven’t already scheduled your senior session – I only have about 3 sessions left in April.

Stephanie Moore - March 15, 2012 - 10:26 am

stylish, fashionable and gorgeous teen girl at sunset by the lake – dallas child & teen photographer

GET READY for some blog OVERLOAD for this gorgeous ‘soon to be’ TEEN – AVERY!.  She turns 13 on 3.18.12 – and I know how important that TEEN title is – so I have to give it to her a bit early.  When Avery’s mom contacted me about a shoot I was thrilled!  This age is one of my all time favorites to work with and Avery – you were a true beauty – inside and out!  The ultimate goal of the session was to capture Avery as she turns 13 and also to bottle up that sweet spirit of hers.  I think we did that and SO MUCH MORE.  Avery has the kindest heart and is so amazingly respectful of others.  She’s funny, witty, eager and I think we may have unleashed the inner model in her!

For this session I was thrilled to work with my new Stylist – Ashley Williams.  You can find out a bit more about Ashley and the styling element of JWP here -  she is simply amazing.  She is part owner of Hemline a great little boutique in Dallas and she is a personal wardrobe stylist & a CLOSET EDITOR (with her company ClosetLift).  Basically headed out to Avery’s home in Rockwall and Ashley pieced together all of these looks straight from Avery’s existing wardrobe.  That was almost just as fun as the shoot itself.  Avery had a blast with this as it showed her some new ways to wear some of her current pieces.

I’m a huge advocate of maximizing your session with a bit of styling. Not over the top styling that doesn’t doesn’t reflect who you are – but just simple enhancements and unique twists on your own wardrobe to make you feel like the best version of yourself.  That is definitely what we did with Avery – see what you think.  (plus this helps save you a bit of money from going out and buying a ton of stuff you may or may not need for your session).   Click HERE to find out how you can add styling to your session.

Without further delay – I must show off a TON of the amazing Avery…
