beautiful lakeside maternity session with fabulous first time parents

Meet my friend Ronda.  We had a blast orchestrating her maternity session and even more fun shooting it.  Initially the plan was to sneak her husband in a couple of shots but after going through her proofs I realized he was much more willing than we thought and ended up in quite a few – I love it!

Ronda is one of the greatest people … in fact – everyone should have a little Ronda in their life.  She’s super sweet – UBER talented and just has such a nice energy that makes you want to be around her.  She and her husband Mark have been married for 2 years in May and they are now expecting their first child (many thought a baby wouldn’t happen – but boy did they show them! :))

This little guy will be so extremely loved and I know they are just anxiously awaiting his arrival.  When I look ahead years from now – it will be amazing to realize how much I’ve documented from their lives together.  Ronda & Mark’s wedding was the first/only wedding that I’ve ever shot,  I was able to photograph her time as an expectant mother here & of course I’ll be there for his newborn shoot and who knows how much more.  I can’t wait for it all Ronda!!  Love you both to pieces!

This last shot just makes me giggle – when I was needing her to loosen up or laugh a bit I had her say “I’m Havin’ A Baby!!!!” and here is the Ronda inspired shot where she screamed that line and followed it with… “they thought it’s wasn’t possible”.

Can’t wait to meet him Ronda!!!

in home natural light maternity session – dallas family photographer

I must start this post by admitting something.  I get freakishly nervous about shooting INDOORS.  I love using 100% natural / available light for my sessions and so every time I have a shoot scheduled at a clients home – my nerves start rumbling.  Most of the times the day of the shoot is the first time I’ve seen the available shooting spaces and therefore I’m not all that familiar with the light to expect in the home.  This was one of those times.  HOWEVER, the minute I opened up the bedroom door I was THRILLED!  The softest most perfect window light was pouring in on this perfect white bed.  I might have squealed with excitement! 🙂  On top of that excitement I had the most eager, prepared, gorgeous and kind mom-to-be to work with.  She knew exactly what she wanted for her maternity session and I hope I exceeded all of her visions.  After shooting in her home we then headed over to a nearby clearing that was so lush from all the recent rain.  She walked her way through some pretty high grass spots just to ‘get the shot’ and for that – I’m ever so grateful! 🙂  Elise – please enjoy and I look forward to sharing some more with you!!

mother & son lakeside summer session with a little maternity time too

A mother’s love for her son is always so wonderful to see play out during one of my sessions – but what I love seeing even more is how strong, animated and steadfast the love from son to mom is.  Elliot was certainly that way.  He adores his mom and at 3 years old you can feel his love for her –  so strong and vibrant.  Recently I met up with Elliot and his mom out at White Rock Lake.  He brought a few of his favorite friends (Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Chipmunk, Dolphin and even Mr Angry Birds) and we had so much fun playing during his shoot.

Then when I was finished photographing little Elliot – it was his mom’s turn for a few maternity images.   You see – she’s expecting baby #2 late this fall.  Sadly, Elliot’s new little sister is having a rough go of it so far.  She has a congenital heart defect that will require much medical attention upon her arrival.   My heart aches to see any family go through this sort of pain & uncertainty – especially when it’s in regards to a newborn child.  In the short time we were on this session, it was clear that Elliot’s mom is handling this entire situation with such grace and calmness.  I’m in awe of her strength and I know her baby must be feeling that right now.  “E” family – you will be in my thoughts and prayers continually – and I wish for you as many happy days as possible with Elliot and your new little girl.

downtown dallas urban maternity session

A Maternity Session in down in the Dallas Arts District in the TX summer heat (103 to be exact).  Sounds fun right?  Well – it WAS!  I think Erica will be surprised at how great she did and OMG did she tell me that she’s due in 2 months!?!  I mean seriously – she barely looks pregnant.   I kid you not, I can’t even count how many images I had to scream out… ‘no really  – stick your belly out’.

Erica – I had a blast with you (and Sherree – a friend of both of ours and my part time photo assistant for this shoot).  I can’t wait to meet “L.A.” (current nickname) in October – until then enjoy these glowing images of you!

UPDATE – only about 5 sessions left for the rest of 2011!  Call me at 214-534-8060 or email me and we can grab a spot for you!
