if you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one

People often ask what I enjoy most about my career as a photographer.  Well one of the biggest parts to that answer is that I simply love kids.  I love their zest for life, their genuine smile and laughter, the soul in their eyes and the ever changing expressions that represent their true feelings at that moment.  As I’ve had the luxury to photograph so many children over these past 2 yrs I decided it was time to find a way to give back to the kids that I can’t always have in front of my camera.   So my search began for a children focused non-profit in DFW.  I wanted to find a way to make a small impact in some child’s life.  More importantly I wanted this program to evolve with you, my clients, right along side of me.  Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that there are numerous organizations with a focus towards less fortunate children.  Since I can’t find a way to help them all I thought I’d start small.  I’m hoping to partner with 3-4 organizations over the course of the year and they will be referred to as my REWARDS PARTNER.

All that being said, I’m thrilled to announce my first REWARDS PARTNER of 2011:  Vogel Alcove.

Their mission is to provide the youngest children of homeless families with the foundation for success. It is their hope that every child in our community has a home, a self-sufficient family and a pathway to success in school.

Since 1987 the Vogel Alcove, a non-religious non-profit, has offered homeless parents a safe place to leave their children while they work to rebuild their lives. The Alcove remains the only early childhood program in Dallas whose primary focus is to serve very young homeless children residing with their families in local homeless and domestic violence shelters.

After meeting with them I quickly discovered I wanted to partner with them.  Vogel Alcove is such a positive force in these young kids lives and they’re in a constant need for many items.  I worked with them to refine a realistic donation list for us to work off of.  As it happens, PJ’s are in high demand there so that’s where our focus will be.

So for every client of mine that brings in a pair of PJs (sized 6m to 8yr) you will get a Free Gift Print from me.  But more importantly you’ll help bring a smile to the face of one of these amazing kids.  I’ve also included additional items that you are more than welcome to include on top of the PJs if you’d like.  Just know that your participation in this, in whatever magnitude, will be greatly appreciated!
