A mother’s love for her son is always so wonderful to see play out during one of my sessions – but what I love seeing even more is how strong, animated and steadfast the love from son to mom is. Elliot was certainly that way. He adores his mom and at 3 years old you can feel his love for her – so strong and vibrant. Recently I met up with Elliot and his mom out at White Rock Lake. He brought a few of his favorite friends (Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Chipmunk, Dolphin and even Mr Angry Birds) and we had so much fun playing during his shoot.
Then when I was finished photographing little Elliot – it was his mom’s turn for a few maternity images. You see – she’s expecting baby #2 late this fall. Sadly, Elliot’s new little sister is having a rough go of it so far. She has a congenital heart defect that will require much medical attention upon her arrival. My heart aches to see any family go through this sort of pain & uncertainty – especially when it’s in regards to a newborn child. In the short time we were on this session, it was clear that Elliot’s mom is handling this entire situation with such grace and calmness. I’m in awe of her strength and I know her baby must be feeling that right now. “E” family – you will be in my thoughts and prayers continually – and I wish for you as many happy days as possible with Elliot and your new little girl.
