home is where it’s at | dallas child photographer

Welcome back to another “Wednesday’s with Watts” 🙂 My day to show off some of my amazing clients I get to work with.

Today in Dallas it’s cold, rainy and dreary and all I want back is the sun!  So while hoping for that I couldn’t help but think of the warmth, the fun, the fall colors and the fabulous girls that I had a chance to meet for this session.  One of the things that I loved most about this session was that it was at their very own home.  They have a gorgeous piece of property outside of Dallas and it made for a perfect shoot!  Theses girls were beyond great!  Both have such a natural sweet disposition and both are oozing with talent!  The older one is a tremendous equestrian (actually her cast is a sports injury that she’s quite proud of – what a rock this child is).  The younger one is a very talented dancer and was recently accepted into the Bolshoi ballet summer intensive – that’s a BIG DEAL!  Really hoping to photograph these girls again next fall – they were such a treat!

    cousins, siblings & cuteness galore | dallas child photographer

    Welcome back to WEDNESDAYS with WATTS 🙂 My chance to highlight some of the phenomenal clients and subjects that I get to work with. This session is a highlight from last fall when the weather was warm, sunny and pure perfection!

    Last fall I was contacted by one of the moms of this young crew and she told me about wanting to surprise her mom with a photo session of all of the grandchildren.  She and her brother were going to rally together and get all of the kiddos and we were going to pull this off!  We did just that!  They styled them to perfection, the kids were a dream and I think what we surprised the grandmother with was a huge success!!  Take a look for yourself…children styled in pastels and embracingchildren styled in pastel colors in various groupings of siblings or cousinsyoung girl is surrounded by sunlight and greeneryprecious toddler in glitter dress surrounded by sunlightsiblings and cousins smiling in the sunyoung girl holding pastel green dress in front of the sunsetthe twirl of a dress on this young girl in the sunlightchildren waiting for the toddler to run and play while laying in the sun

    a fun & funky family | dallas child photographer

    Wow TWO posts in one day – I know – I can barely believe it myself.

    Meet my friend Molly and her fabulous family!  She and I went to college together and lost track of each other for … oh … about 10 years or so.  But luckily our paths crossed again and I couldn’t be happier.  I swear – ‘old’ friends make the best ones.  So nice to have short hand with chicks like her.  BONUS – our boys can play together!  She and her husband Ben have 2 amazing kids (Doss & Booth) and I hope Max gets one ounce of their hip style!  XOXO Molly!

    bitter sweet news for Jenny Watts Photography

    ~~~2014 UPDATE: We stayed in DALLAS & decided that NYC just wasn’t quite ready for us 😉  ~~~
    Well it’s taken me a few weeks to sit down and write this post and there is really no easy way to say it – so I’ll just throw it out there.  We are moving to NEW YORK CITY.  There, I said it…even going back and rereading those words seems very surreal.
    Very long story short, my partner Angela has taken a job with a media company based in NYC – of course that means Max and I will be right there along her side as she starts this amazing new opportunity with a truly phenomenal company.  Starting in 2014 she will be the VP of Sales for Hearst Broadcasting and we will officially be New Yorkers.
    I know there will be many exciting things when it comes to living in the ‘city that never sleeps’ – but let’s get real – I like myself some sleep!  I’m a Texas girl through and through and having lived here all my life it’s so hard to imagine leaving.  But the reality is – we are and I’m going to try and focus on the fun parts of this journey.  Things like walking Max in Central Park,  lunching at Serendipity, strolling through Manhattan like I’m SJP’s new BFF, giving our family a guided tour around the city and of course meeting and photographing fun New York families.
    This wasn’t really the plan I had envisioned but what fun are plans, right?  Now this TEXAS girl and our little TEXAS Baby will be a diversified little guy with some New York flare!  One thing I do know for sure is that Texas will always be our root, our base and our home.  New York is simply one stop along this great journey of life and I hope and believe that it will be a rewarding, exciting and fulfilling one.
    All that being said, I wanted to take this time to tell each of you, my clients, my photography friends, my family and any JWP followers out there – THANK YOU.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, your enthusiasm and your belief in myself and my art.  Taking the leap of faith on this business almost 5 years ago, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.  I wouldn’t change a thing and I have each of you to thank for that.
    I will continue shooting through this Fall – making my last official Dallas session on 11.17.13.  I’ll wrap up doing holiday cards, prints etc for you all and get those to you in time for the holidays of course, then you’ll just have to wait until I announce a Dallas Mini Session Trip for 2014 (hoping to plan 2 of those).  I’ll spend the holidays enjoying Max’s first Christmas, prepping for the big move, selling quite a bit of our stuff and soaking in my time with friends and family.  Then at the start of the year – it’s off to NYC.  (Tentatively we are planning on being up there in Feb or March).  In the meantime there are a few things that I want to make note of with all this going on…
    • SENIORS of 2014 – if you want me to photograph you then you need to book something ASAP.
    • NEWBORNS – sadly – I’m not shooting newborns anymore due to some back issues that I’m working with.  Physically they are just much too demanding for me.  I adore them but I’ll have to refer you out if that’s what you are in need for.
    • FAMILIES – if you don’t have your session booked for your 2014 holiday photos – then please do that ASAP.
    Below is a snapshot of my availability – basically about 5 sessions available:
    • AUGUST – 1 session left (wk of 8.26 W-F)
    • SEPTEMBER – 1 sessions left – weekday only
    • OCTOBER – 2 sessions left – weekday only
    • NOVEMBER – 1 sessions left – weekday only
    If you have a session that you are NOT in a rush for something holiday related – I will possibly take on 2 maybe 3 sessions in early December.  SENIORS that might be for you.   Oh and sorry – no more mini sessions planned for the year (for those that are wondering).
    I could go on and on about my emotions with this big move – but I think I’ll just have to end it with some cute pics of my sweet little 6m old Max –  in his nursery that I love in our first family home that I adore.  He will for sure put a smile back on my face!  In the meantime – start telling your NY friends that a new photographer is coming to town 🙂
    I must also give a quick shout out to Michelle from Little Sunshine Quilts who made this quilt in the last 3 images.  I was on the hunt for someone to make a quilt out of his swaddles and accomplished it beautifully!  Those swaddles will always remind me of wrapping up our sweet little newborn boy in the first few months of his beautiful life.
      Multigenerational Family Country Photography Session
      So get ready!  I’ll keep words short so you can enjoy this fun family session!  When one of my best friends (Karlee – the one in the purple/pink dress) asked me if I would photograph her family – I was all over it!  Then when I found out her family had this great piece of property – I thought – “really – can it get any better?”  In this first image – I’ll help you grasp who everyone is…Oh and you might remember this shot from last week from Karlee’s parents.
      Top Row L to R: Karlee, Nenaw & Papaw (GPs on Karlee’s mom’s side), Sha (Karlee’s mom), Granny (GM on dad’s side).
      Middle 2 gentlemen: Cole (Karlee’s brother) & Pawpaw (GF on Karlee’s dad’s side)
      Bottom row L to R: Sarah (Cole’s girlfriend), Gracie (Cole’s daugther) & Phil (Karlee’s dad)
      Got that???  Even if you can’t keep track – hopefully you can feel the luv!
